St. Ann Student Council sponsored Red Ribbon Week during the week of Oct. 25-29th. The students learned about the dangers of cigarettes, marijuana and alcohol. Officer Susan Adams, our school’s DARE officer, gave a talk about gun safety. Each class created a poster explaining the facts they learned during the week. The posters were then hung in the gym. The Student Council sponsored a window decorating contest which was won by the 2nd grade.

On Friday afternoon the students met in church for an all-school rosary. The 8th graders planned the rosary and classes took turns leading each decade. It was a perfect way to end Red Ribbon Week.
On Monday the entire school gathered in front of the building to kick off Red Ribbon week. The student council lead everyone in prayer. Then they explained the origins of Red Ribbon Week to everyone gathered. The trees and building were decorated with red ribbons. Mrs. Reichenbach cut the ceremonial ribbon draped across the school! At the end of the day, the Incarnate Word Cheerleaders led the school in some energetic cheers. Finally, two Normandy police officers brought in a drug-sniffing dog named Mink, It was a fun day!!!
